Reflection

In this paper it dealt with the problem of the use of fossil fossils and a heavily dependent as a energy source in the rest of the world. The paper served more as a call to action piece to stop the use of such fuel as it will hurt the planet by contributing to climate change. And though it may seem new now is the time to adopt the use of alternative energies whole heartedly. These alternative energies include geothermal energy and nuclear energy. These energies have the benefit on relying on energy that is already available to use and will not cause any dramatic pollution to the surrounding environment.

This topic had more to deal with the two major alternative energies that I believed would have a dramatic impact on energy use, instead of denouncing fossil fuels. This essay revolved around the use of a busy metropolitan city like New York. Thought this essay relied more basic statistics and efficacy results there was still some problems that I faced. One of which was there was not a lot of data to support how such plans would be done to implement these energies into New York City’s power grid. For example, when giving statistics about how a geothermal plant would be implemented in the city it was stated that there was a workforce that was available to run the plant but could not find specific statistics to back up that claim. Instead I had to resort to use salary statistics of engineers to find the numbers I was looking for. There were some positives that came about from writing this paper. For example, I found out the struggles that it took to change the type of energy a place may use as everything would be adjusted around that source of energy. It gave a different perception of the confit at hand and allowed me to dig deeper into the solution. Overall If I had more time, I would include more data to support the use of these alternative energies and stress the seriousness of transitioning to alternate energies in the time where out planet is in jeopardy.
